Why are the Panthers going to likely take Cam Newton (details inside)?

I know Newton won the Heisman, but the fact is that this guy played in an option system in college and option qbs take time to develop in the nfl (ie vince young, tim tebow). They drafted a qb in the 2nd round last year in Jimmy Clausen, and i know he struggled but so do many other rookie qbs and you might as well try to salvage his career since he was a second rounder. Wouldnt it be smart to draft a receiver like Aj Green to play opposite Steve Smith, who needs another wideout to take coverage off him?
